Children

Your children under age 18 can collect on your account. If the child is in high school benefits can go to age 19, and continue through the end of the semester in which the child turns age 19.

There used to be benefits for college students but these were abolished many years ago.

Your adult children who become disabled before age 22 can also collect on your account.

The amount of the benefit for the child is 50% of your primary insurance benefit, which is your benefit amount before any age reduction.
